A total of 185 complaints have been registered with the Pune bench under the Maharashtra real estate regulatory authority (MAHA RERA) in the last 15 days. In response, the bench disposed, three cases on merit and given judgement in three other cases.
Overall, MAHA RERA has reviewed over 900 complaints till now. Out of all received complaints, judgments against 188 complaints were made.
Out of all filed complaints, about 90 percent of them are of delayed possession complaints regarding delayed possession, attract stringent fines under the new real estate act. For delayed possession a developer can even face a jail term apart from the hefty monetary penalty. The regulatory authority usually takes 60 days’ time to clear all received complaints.
Recently, the regulatory authority imposed penalties ranging rs 2-10 lakhs to eight prominent builders for violating RERA norms while most of the developers were fined for not mentioning MAHA RERA’S website’s address in their advertisements, one builder was penalized for advertising an unregistered project.
