According to a Maha RERA official , delay in possession of property misleading disclosure by builders and agreements not following Maha RERA format form of a major chunk of all the complaints received under Maha RERA . It is to be noted that Maharashtra was the first state to notify RERA rules and establish Maha RERA.
As per an analysis report prepared with Maha RERA officials out of more than 600. complaints received in the last five months nearly 60 were uploaded on the website. the report further stated that complaints filed with Maha RERA are either with drawn or settled by parties with directions from the authority . Penalty on developers for violations were also imposed in a few cases. some complaints were also dismissed on account of lack of facts , no jurisdiction or no locus standi.
While some citizen groups opine that more forceful orders are required ,others believe that they need more time . Mumbai Grahak Manch representatives are of the view that Maha RERA is currently at an early stage and lot of awareness need to be created among consumers regarding the kind of complaints that can be filed.
CREDAI Maharashtra President, Shantilal Kataria has termed the authority’s decision to make settlements amicably as a ‘welcome move’. However he still feels that some of the orders issued would go into appeal to higher authorities.
